Erdogan Aykaç

Erdogan Aykaç is the junior curator working on the Turkey collections at the NMVW. 

Bio

Erdogans research interests include identity formation processes and the Turkish diaspora. He is currently working on his PhD research regarding the formation of Turkey’s identity and geopolitical role through discursive practices. In his research he focuses on how Turkish political elites use Turkey’s historical and cultural legacy to constitute Turkey’s identity in relation to Europe and the Middle East.

Erdogan received his Master degree in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations at the University of Amsterdam and his Bachelor degree in History with a specialization in Teaching at the Windesheim University of Applied Sciences and the University of Wisconsin in Platteville, USA. From 2012 to 2018 he worked as a lecturer at the International Relations department of the University of Groningen.
