Robin Lelijveld

Robin Lelijveld was a Researcher at the Research Center for Material Culture. She was involved in the projects Materializing Slavery and Words Matter. In 2017 she joined NMVW to work on the exhibition Afterlives of Slavery (Heden van het Slavernijverleden) in the Tropenmuseum.

Bio

Robin holds a dual Master’s degree in Curating Art and Cultures (formerly known as Museumconservator) at the University of Amsterdam and the VU University Amsterdam. She has a BA in History, that she complemented with multiple courses in Art History. During her studies she developed an interest in the visual and material culture of the Dutch empire, with specific focus on transatlantic slavery. In her work she has explored questions surrounding issues of representation, power and collections histories.

Previously Robin held a curatorial position in the Van Gogh Museum, with responsibility for the collections prints and drawings.
