Beginning in 2018, the RCMC Reparative Acts Lab will host workshops and seminars that explore the aesthetic, political, legal, conceptual and curatorial problematics around the im/possibilties of repair in museum and collections contexts. How might the enduring material, visual and spatial entailments of an unfinished colonial project lend themselves towards fashioning of politics of care aimed towards redressing long-standing injuries? What are the limits and possibilities of such reparative acts? Can ethnographic museums forge a different role, status and mission for themselves in the contemporary world and what might this look like?
